Stairs = Win!

The other day I told you about how I got a set of my own doggy stairs. Today I’m going to do a quick review on them. Here is a picture of the box.

OK. Stairs review, here goes: They are stairs. They are covered in carpet. They help me get up on the bed all by myself. Rather than jumping off and going spat on the wood floors, they provide a safe way down. Stairs = win!

Apparently my review is not good enough. Here is what mum had to say:

The stairs are not all that tall, only 17″. The bed is 27″. A couple of novels under the back legs raised  the top stair to a much more manageable height. When they were taken out of the box, it was found that a screw had fallen loose. Without this screw one of the stairs became loose and wobbly. The “wood” in the hole was little more than powder. The only way secure the screw back in was to fill the hole with glue from a hot glue gun. This fix seems to have worked pretty good. The stairs are not heavy at all. This makes them very easy to move out of the way when needed. However the weight, in addition to the glossy finish, do not do all that well on a slippery wood floor. The easy fix was to place a small piece of carpet under one of the bed legs and place the stairs on that. The bed holds the carpet in place, which in turn keeps the stairs in place.

Sabrina took a couple of days to become comfortable with the stairs. Now that she has gotten over her fears, she is happily running up and down the stairs at the slightest provocation. No more having to wait until she is ready to get on the bed, no more worries of her going splat on her belly when she jumps off the bed in a mad panic to get the cat.

Overall, the stairs were a very good buy with positive results all around.

Yea, yea. Stairs = win. I’m pretty sure I covered that. Here’s one more pose for ya.

About Sabrina's Pug Tails

My name is Sabrina. I am a three year old fawn pug who lives with my three humans and my brother-cat Shinobi. I came to live with my family in February of 2010. I don’t remember much about my life before that. I know that I didn’t have a nice warm bed to sleep in or soft couches to lay on. I was rescued from my previous life by the Boston Terrier & Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba along with my brother, sister and mom. My human mum tells me that some dogs work at being smart and some work at being cute, and I am very, very cute. I think there may be some kind of insult here………

One Response to Stairs = Win!

  1. I’m not sure how I missed this post…catching up now. We bought Gus stairs for our bed a few years ago. He was always jumping off and we just knew that some day he would land wrong and we’d regret it forever.

    It took Gus awhile to get used to them. Actually, he still hesitates before he runs up. I love the width of Sabrina’s steps…they quite a bit wider than ours.

    Way to go, Sabrina!
