Easter, family gatherings and sad times

I hope you all had a good Easter, or Passover, or at least a good weekend.

Things have been a bit ….. strained here.

Due to a family emergency, a bunch of mum’s family were in town all week. Normally visiting family would be a good thing and would mean more attention for me.

Not this time. I don’t know what the emergency was, but mum didn’t go to work all week. Instead she spent lots of time with Auntie C, was gone all day, and even past my dinner time. She would come home to get The Will and then go out again. When she did come home, she would smell like strange people and cleaning solutions.

And she did come home she was sad. Real sad. Like staring at the computer screen not doing anything for an hour or more, or go straight to bed sad. There were no Puggy songs sung or bedtime Puggy stories told.

Don’t worry, I didn’t hold a grudge for being ignored. Much.

I did get to meet some of the out-of-town family. It seems that Poppy and I were not the only 4-leggers being ignored so there were a couple of group walks at the dog park with the visitors, Auntie C and her dogs, the grandparents’ dog and even Auntie A’s little boy – Little C.

I guess little boys benefit from running around the dog park almost as much as Poppy does.

Normally small children scare the bejeebus out of me. Surprisingly Little C isn’t so bad. He and Poppy are likely two peas in a pod – they both have way more energy than their little bodies should be able to contain, and they are both good snuggle buddies after they have been tired out some. And they are both really very sweet.

The visiting family all went home today and mum has returned to work. I think this means that our lives will back to normal pretty quick. I don’t know about any of you, but I really like consistency in my life. I like being fed at the same time every day and I really prefer for my humans to come and go at the same time every day. A girl can only hold it so long, if you get my drift.

One thing I will be talking to mum about is Little C. I like the little guy and would love to have him around more regularly. Oh, and he keeps Poppy entertained. An entertained Poppy means she isn’t hanging off my jowls or nipping on my heels. And that makes me very happy.

About Sabrina's Pug Tails

My name is Sabrina. I am a three year old fawn pug who lives with my three humans and my brother-cat Shinobi. I came to live with my family in February of 2010. I don’t remember much about my life before that. I know that I didn’t have a nice warm bed to sleep in or soft couches to lay on. I was rescued from my previous life by the Boston Terrier & Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba along with my brother, sister and mom. My human mum tells me that some dogs work at being smart and some work at being cute, and I am very, very cute. I think there may be some kind of insult here………
